Mark was raised in Walla Walla and has called it home for over 50 years. Prior to becoming the President and CEO of Baker Boyer in 2014, Mark had roles as a CPA, Consultant at Ernst and Young, Director of Planned Giving at Whitman College, and Head of Baker Boyer Asset Management. His experience has allowed him to speak about a myriad of options for wealth management, business and succession planning, taxation, trust and estate planning, charitable giving options, and legacy planning. These included once frequent commentary on national broadcasts such as Bloomberg and CNBC.
As President and CEO, Mark is responsible for ensuring Baker Boyer’s 150+ year legacy continues for another hundred plus years. He regularly states that when you are planning for a quarter of a millennia, the impossible is possible, you just have to plan for it. Mark believes a strong local bank like Baker Boyer is a key to a thriving community for all. His leadership has elevated the expertise within Baker Boyer’s DS Baker Advisors, who team to provide customized solutions for the banks more complex clients to empower them to achieve their goals.
Mark’s community service includes being a member of Rotary, member of the Mill Creek Coalition, and Board Member of the Whitman Board of Trustees and the Blue Mountain Community Foundation. Previously, Mark participated as a Board Member of the Episcopal Diocese Foundation, Whitman College’s President’s Advisory Council, Downtown Walla Walla Foundation, Walla Walla Housing Authority, Valley Residential Services, Fort Walla Walla Museum, and American Cancer Society.
